Objectives
THE ASSOCIATION FOR VISUAL ARTSAVA, the Association for Visual Arts, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that works to connect the visual arts and the community-at-large. We do this by providing resources for those who make art (whether professional artists, emerging artists, students or non-artists) and fostering connections among art-makers and audiences. Now in its 27th year, AVA has a membership of 500, is run by a staff of seven employees and a Board of Directors, and receives support from numerous businesses and public agencies, as well as more than 150 volunteers. AVA's annual programs are geared toward the community at large and include approximately 20 annual visual arts exhibitions for professional artists, members and students in two galleries; twelve weeks of summer art camps for youth ages 5 through 17; Reel Stories, an award-winning high school documentary program; arts based computer lab classes; a Community Arts Program that partners AVA with other Chattanooga area non-profits; a mentorship program for emerging artists; The Bridge, an online arts magazine; advocacy for the arts; and the national ranked 4 Bridges Arts Festival™ every spring.
