2014 Poster Artist: Amanda Brazier
The Festival is pleased to present "Nexus", a 23" x 23" handmade oil paint on panel piece by Amanda Brazier, as the image for this year's limited edition collectible poster brought to you by Real Estate Partners.
Amanda is a painter living and working in Chattanooga. She received her BA in Studio Art and Spanish from Freed-Hardeman University in 2007. After graduating Amanda moved to Chattanooga and began growing her work. Amanda is a past 4 Bridges emerging artist and is the 2014 4 Bridges Poster Artist. During her time at 4 Bridges Amanda received a best in painting merit award and a professional development grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Amanda is also a facilitator for the public art organization Mark Making and is represented by River Gallery in Chattanooga. Amanda not only gives back to the community through her artwork but also teaches track at Boyd Buchannan. Her work has also been displayed at multiple venues, such as AVA and Smart furniture studio, across Chattanooga. Amanda’s unique style of paint is based in referencing geometry, architecture, primitive earth dwellings, ancient art, and language. Her paintings then develop through stacking, weaving, and assembling simple forms. Amanda makes paint from pigments processed from the soils near her home, constructing a painted sanctuary with a sense of its origin and culture.
The poster is available at the Festival for $30. The original work will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the Festival. Please visit the Association for Visual Arts booth to purchase the poster or enter the auction.
